Managing Schools through the Lens of Gay Administrators

This study digs into the experiences and challenges faced by gay school leaders in Baybay City, Employing Hermeneutic Phenomenological qualitative study as research design. The participants of this study were two (2) gay school administrators in Baybay City Schools Division. Results uncovered five main themes in their stories: Evolution of Experiences, Challenges and Resilience, Best Practices and Success Stories, Harmony in Leadership, and Diversity and Inclusive Leadership. Moreover, the study shows that gay administrators have diverse experiences but share a strong commitment to education. Resilience is crucial for effective school management, helping personal growth, and building a tough educational community. Collaborative leadership styles are crucial in creating a positive school culture. Furthermore, the study wraps up by recognizing gay administrators as promoters of inclusivity, significantly impacting the creation of a welcoming educational environment. Therefore, it is recommended to include designing programs for their unique challenges, supporting their advocacy for inclusive policies, and fostering community engagement. Also, the study adds a valuable layer to the understanding of school leadership and suggests practical ways to create more inclusive, resilient, and harmonious schools. It also recommends to call for ongoing support and recognition of the diverse contributions of gay administrators in education.
